- ATF Filter

- Gearbox Gasket

How often do we need to change the Auto Transmission Fluid (ATF) during car servicing?

Most cars are being recommended to change the ATF every 40,000 KM

Why do we need to change the Auto Transmission Fluid (ATF) during car servicing?

Just like your engine oil, ATF gets 'dirty' after a period of time. Not changing the ATF regularly or not changing the filter might affect the transmission system operation.

Some of the symtoms include:

-Gears cannot engage

-Transmission change delayed

-Cannot engage reverse gear

-Shift lever difficult to move

It is recommended to check your transmission fluid twice a year to ensure that there is sufficient amount of ATF. Having a low amount or no ATF in the transmission system is very risky and dangerous. Low level of ATF might be caused by leakage from sippage of ATF through the gearbox oil seal or gasket.

Tips on Saving Money on Car Body Repair Services in Singapore

Sending your car for servicing can be costly and that's why people often skimp on it or do it ever so often. Whether it's a minor fender bender, a broken door ding or a major wreckage on your car, it can cost a serious dent in your wallet. Here are tips to help you save money on auto-body repairs.

1. Replace you own parts

For Do-It-Yourself car repairs, Google and your computer are your best friends. Websites such as AutoMD and Expert Village are great resources of step by step how-to guides and diagnostic assistance for the common car problems. AutoMD also has a user-friendly mobile app for Android and Apple users. You can easily get a hold of common car parts anywhere online or at car repair shops themselves. Watch the how-to guide video and load the walkthrough while fixing the parts yourself. Save money at the expense of you own hard labour.

2. Repair small dents yourself

Dents are the most common and easiest damage that you car will incur. It is also the bane of most people. Your heart aches a little bit when you spend a thousands of dollars on a shiny new ride and it gets damaged. There are several ways you can fix this issue instantly. One way is by using a plunger. Just splash some water on both the plunger and the dent and start pushing and pulling until it pops out. Make sure to use a cup plunger (for sinks), not a flange one (for toilets). The other way is using boiling hot water. Yup, it's as simple as that.  As soon as you pour the water, reach behind the bumper and try to pop the dent back in. With the heat of the water, the plastic would be more flexible, making it easier to put back into place.

3. Prevent Damage From The Start

Practice good driving etiquettes, keep to the safe and advisable distance from other cars or lamp posts. Protect your investment at all cost. Never get distracted, text or call on the road is a big NO. Always stick to the car speed limit and signal. With these right practices at hand, you and your car will be safe from any accidents.
